How to optimize search engines to find the content?
When there used to no online technology, even then the writers, authors and publishers used to publish books by world renowned authors. In olden days the publishers used to market the great books through advertisement, marketing and less known authors, sometimes performed better than the authors, whose content was great but yet they needed support to become popular among the readers. What I want to emphasize is that initially it is not necessary that every good content on the web or internet may find lot of readers as they may not be even aware of such good content being available on the internet. But for media acclaimed authors which is possible only in case of new inventions and researches which get published in Research Journals, the other authors have to chose a good branded publisher like WQAINDIA, advertising media and social networking to get traffic to their posted articles or resources. More and more traffic will be possible only if all the roads lead to the same destination. In technical or IT language if there are more and more key words lead the content to be displayed on TOP by the search engines.
To find favors with search engines so that author’s publications appear in search displays the authors has to keep in mind the following factors:
- Proper and Attractive title of the post is as important as cover page of any book with hundreds of articles. If Cover Page of the book is attractive and finds favor with the search displays on the net then there is every likely hood that the articles in the book’s chapters, we here call chapters as categories, may also draw attention of visitors or readers. We assure you that you have selected the one of the best book with branded WQAINDIA as its cover page.
- I have seen and read books having hundreds of chapters and every chapter having a brief summary of the chapter so that the reader can easily come to know as to what is in store for him or her in the lengthy chapter. Similarly summary of an article must convey the reader the central idea of the article even on the web published articles.
- After summary, it is the presentation of the chapter or article which needs to be in chronological order. If you find an article about “How to make Indian Chapatti” and the author of the article tells about “Making mould of wheat Flour” at the last of the article then what will be your reaction as a reader? You can not change the chapters in the physical books’ chapters but here on the web you can leave a comment for the author that “Making mould of wheat Flour” needs to be in the beginning paragraphs of the article. Any good author will thank you for your suggestion and rearrange the paragraphs to the taste of the reader.
- Know comes the role of Keywords. To do this just write the word, you want to be your keyword in the article, in the Google search address bar and you may find hundreds of articles related to the keyword. Unique words which are used by you in your articles become the keywords with your fan base using those words in searches.
- Cross Linking your posts ( URL of the post to be used as hyperlink on other websites, your own blogs, social networks and embedding in Google AdWords also multiplies your readers and visitors on the web.
Good Titles are essential for successful online content writing. I am not recommending that the body of article to be of poor quality as by Good Title head we can attract the readers for once but not always if any useful information is not found by them in the body article. The following factors make the content popular only on the basis of Good Title.
- 90% of the readers decide whether to open the page or not just by looking at the Title. So, any attractive, meaningful or good title has the potential of getting readers for your post.
- Search engines decide whether to show an article post in search results or not depending on the keywords found in the title. So, if you can embed the commonly searched keywords/terms/phrases in your title, then it will make a huge difference in getting search traffic to your posts.
- Include “What”, “How “, “Why “, “When” or “Know” etc in the title for example if you are writing an article on Balanced or Nutritional diet then you can have the title “What is a balanced and nutritional diet” and “What are the natural sources of balanced and nutritional diet”.
- Make the title as lengthy as possible so that more keywords can be included in the title.
- If the title is in the form of a question, end the title with one question mark only and not with multiple signs of exclamation, question or even dots.
- Title should be minimum 10 words and maximum 20 words.
- Title should be true reflection of the article body.
- Title should be in running language and not all letters in CAPITALS or every word need not start with CAPITAL letter.
- First letter, name or noun can start with capital letter.
Caution: Use a meaningful Title and do not repeat keywords or few phrases in the title for the sake of traffic. Such tricks may not work in the long term and the title will be ignored by search engines due to keyword spamming and it may even result into penalizing the whole website, book or its author.
Good Summary of the article is as important as Good Title. Summary is important as popular search engines like Google display the summary in search displays and if the summary does not meet with the requirements of the reader searching for any content then there is every likelihood that your article may be ignored by the reader. Good Summary is one of the most important criteria for search engine optimization. To make it more clear we place here an image of Google Search result page:
I searched for “How to secure Bank Lockers” just to find if search engines pick up my own article or not and if yes how the article title and summary gets displayed in search results?
You can see that the article written by me is appearing in search results at Sr. No. 4 along with the summary. Had the summary of my article been fine tuned that it might have appeared on the top of the search results and readers might have got more better idea about the contents of the article. This is the importance of Good Summary for the purpose of Search Engine Optimization and readers to click on the link to read the full contents of the article. Without a Good Summary, the article may get displayed in search results but whether it will create interest amongst the internet users is beyond guess. Good Summary is required to create interest to at least make the audiences to visit the page at a glance. When the page will not be opened by the audiences, it will die its own death even in search displays.
Caution: If summary is not provided for any article post, the search engines usually pick up the words at random from the article body and it will be beyond your own control to create an interest based or pre-drafted summary. Good summary has following features:
- The summary needs to be 2 or 3 sentences in length.
- The summary needs to be complete conveying the brief of your article.
- Example : Let us take this article title “How to optimize search engines to find the content?” then in the summary I will like to write as under:
In this article I will explain the good article writing tips with good title and good summary. But summary should be in running language and not all letters in CAPITALS or every word need not start with CAPITAL letter as in case of Title. Error free writing free from grammatical and spelling mistakes finds favor with search engines. Try not to use comma separated words in the summary.
How to organize the content in body article?:
The text of the article must be organized in small paragraphs consisting of 5 to 25 complete sentences fitting into heading given to such paragraphs. While H2 tags may be used in main headings, the sub headings are enclosed in H3 Tags. In our next article we will let you know more about HTML headings. To know more about HTML tags read our resources at How to use HTML tags in articles?. Do not forget to use key words in the heading or sub headings avoiding over use of key words.
